History
Special Products was founded in 1997 by Dr Graham March, a pharmacist with substantial experience of the formulation of medicines gained whilst working at major pharmaceutical companies and within the UK’s National Health Service.
Prior to founding Special Products, Dr March spent several years formulating medicines at Great Ormond Street Hospital, the world-renowned children's hospital in London. Whilst working at the hospital, Dr March identified the need for a private sector company dedicated to developing medicines for children with rare diseases and for other patient groups.
Dr March, along with a small team of formulation experts at Special Products, has since developed more than 60 "specials" for a targeted range of therapeutic areas. In general, liquids have been produced for children and tablets for older children and adults. Injections have also been manufactured to treat patients requiring emergency treatment.
The company has grown rapidly, supplying products to more than 25 countries.
