What We Do
'Specials' are unlicensed medicinal products prescribed by doctors when a licensed product for a particular illness does not exist
Our business model is based on that of a large and very successful pharmaceutical company. However, we've chosen to concentrate on identifying products that will meet a significant medical need, but are often too small, sales-wise, to justify the costs of licensing.
Having identified a patient group with an unmet medical need, we contract out the formulation of a complete range of liquids for children, tablets for adults and injections for emergency treatment. Our aim of improving the quality of life for patients and reducing emergency admissions has met with considerable success. Indeed, some of the registered trademarks for our products are now better known than the company. The commercial production of each formulation is then contracted out to an appropriate pharmaceutical manufacturer with a Manufacturing Licence (ML) to produce 'specials'. Each ‘special’ comes with a proven long-term expiry date, a batch number and an Information Leaflet. Particular care is taken to ensure that the medicines are suitable for children.
All our products are TSE-free and are supplied with a Certificate of Analysis.
As part of our care for patients, a comprehensive file of Data Sheets, Patient Information Leaflets and Certificates of Analysis is available to hospital consultants, GPs, pharmacists, specialist nurses and other healthcare workers. Also, training in their use and interpretation can be provided when required. Our Medical Information Department is becoming increasingly busy dealing with queries from the aforementioned healthcare professionals. It should be stressed that we do not supply our products directly to the public nor do we provide any information pertaining to them to non-healthcare professionals.
